Croí Laighean Credit Union is delighted to announce the two recipients of the 2023 Pat Jones Student Bursary Awards:
- Vivienne Hevey-Rayh from Confey College is applying to study for an Arts degree in History and English.
- Ryan Ellis from Oaklands College in Edenderry intends to study to become a Primary School Teacher.
Both winners will receive €6,000 towards their 3rd Level Education over 3 years.
On Thursday, May 18, each of the sixteen finalists received a special delivery to their school with a Croí Laighean Credit Union goodie box containing gifts, treats, and €250 was lodged into their credit union account. Valerie Tyrell, Community Relations Officer at Croí Laighean Credit Union, then visited the schools of both winners to present the recipients with a cheque and to congratulate them on their achievement.

“We had some exceptional applications this year; it really made the decision to choose the winners very difficult. The schools, the teaching staff, and the parents of these students should be immensely proud, and we would like to thank the schools for facilitating the bursary once again.”
“Choosing the two recipients is always difficult and this year was no different. We are delighted for both Vivienne and Ryan who impressed the judges and we would like to thank all the applicants for participating and wish them the best of luck in their upcoming Leaving Certificate exams”.
The Croí Laighean Credit Union Pat Jones Student Bursary has now contributed over €127,000 in funding to local students in the last 11 years. The Bursary has had a positive impact on the students who win. For some, it has allowed them to go to college when otherwise it might have been difficult financially, and for others, it offers them the opportunity to live on campus, allowing them to integrate more fully into college life.
The annual Pat Jones bursary is run by Croí Laighean Credit Union and is open to all 6th Year students who are attending schools in the common bond area who wish to further their education with a third-level course.
